Most organisations cannot pause AI adoption and cannot wait until governance is ready. AI is already being experimented with, embedded into business processes, connected to sensitive data and influencing decisions…while governance is still not created or is still catching up!
That is what makes AI governance uniquely challenging.
Unlike traditional governance programmes, AI governance must often be built in parallel with active deployment. The challenge is not just creating policies. It is identifying where AI already exists, identifying ownership, assessing risks without slowing innovation, creating controls around systems that evolve continuously, governing third-party AI that organisations do not fully control.
And all of this must happen while the airplane is already in the air. That is why practical AI governance matters (not theoretical frameworks and not paperwork); operational governance that works in reality.
The sooner organisations start with its AI Governance Program, the better!
